The Royal and Select Masters District of West Yorkshire team visit to Saddleworth Council on 1 May was marked by a strong attendance and a positive, engaged atmosphere throughout. A good turnout of Companions gathered to witness two candidates receiving their Most Excellent Master degree, with the ceremonies delivered to a high standard and received with clear appreciation by all present. The presence of all three Rulers added further distinction to the occasion, underlining the importance of the visit and the support for the Council.
Saddleworth continues to stand out within the District, meeting not only in the Royal and Select Masters but also, on the same day, convening as part of the Allied Masonic Degrees, another Companion Order. Of particular note, many of those present were members of both, and once the Allied meeting had concluded, the transition was carried out in a seamless and well-practised manner, the lodge was changed, regalia was changed, and the setting prepared promptly for the Royal and Select Masters to commence.
Overall, the visit served as an excellent demonstration of what Cryptic Freemasonry is about in practice, strong ritual, shared purpose, and the ability to bring Companions together in a spirit of unity and continuity across Orders.
