On a damp Saturday morning the companions of West Yorkshire gathered at castle grove Masonic hall to welcome the guests from other districts in including the Grand Master to our annual district meeting.
The meeting was opened by R.Ill Comp Fraser McPherson and then the Grand Master was admitted under the direction of the deputy grand DC. Ill.Comp Alan Baverstock.
The salutations were duly given and acknowledged so the business of the day could continue. Once the new District officers were invested the Grand Master took to the floor to congratulate not only the District Officer but also those who were appointed and promoted to grand rank.
That was not the end of the surprises as he said that two others would be getting letters this morning promoting them in Grand Council. These were V.Ill.Companion Ron Murtagh, the Past Deputy District Grand Master who took over the reigns following the death of our beloved David Cordell. Ron was promoted to Past Grand Lecturer. The other recipient was Ill.Comp John Boyington to Past Grand Chancellor, both of the are now R.Ill Companions and very deserving of such an honour with the worm that they have done.
The business over we then adjourned to a very loud and jovial festive board.
